Apprenticeship
The Florida Air Conditioning Apprenticeship Association in conjunction with
the Palm Beach Air Conditioning Contractors Association provides a combination
of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in which workers learn
the practical and theoretical aspects of the highly skilled trade of HVAC/R.
Students are able to work full time during the day and attend classes two times
a week three hours per night during the academic year. Classes are held at Palm
Beach Community College in Lake Worth, Florida.
Upon completion of the 4 year program graduates are awarded an Apprenticeship
Completion Certificate from the State Office of Apprenticeship.
Employed Worker Training Courses
Fiberglass Duct Construction, 14 Hour hands on course. Students learn
the required skills to fabricate duct systems, fittings, and supports.
Refrigeration Circuit and Air Flow Diagnosis, 8 hour course students
learn the required skills to properly diagnosis the refrigerant circuit, testing
super heat and sub cooling and insure the proper air flow of the system is
achieved.
NATE, (NORTH AMERICAN TECHNICIAN EXCELLENCE) a review course is
followed by a 4 hour testing for NATE certification. Employees who wish to sit
for the exam only may do so after approval of registration.
HVAC & IAQ, course offers introduction into the indoor air quality as
it relates to the HVAC system performance.
